The Youth Engagement Team offers a range of projects for young people that cover three main areas.
Youth engagement
- Positive Futures (Opens in new window) is for young people aged from 10 to 19 years old who live in the country's most deprived areas. We have been involved since 2003, have helped more than 350 young people and are the only housing association working with this national social inclusion programme.
- The team also runs estate-based activities with local voluntary and statutory sector providers. These include theme-based programmes, such as Money Smart, as well as holiday provision, such as circus skills workshops.
Personal development
- Achieve is a personal development project for young people aged 14-21. The team provides support to individual young people to achieve their aspirations through a range of one-to-one support, volunteering and work placement opportunities and access to training and employment. The project has successfully been awarded funding from the Department for Children, Schools and Families until 2011.
- The Business Mentoring Project provides one-to-one support to young people from local schools. The young people are paired up with volunteers from Notting Hill, who support them to build their self-confidence, learn about the world of work and achieve their goals.
Active citizenship
- The team works with young people to build their capacity to have a voice and to get involved in local decision-making. We are committed to increasing the involvement of our young tenants in shaping services through our service panels and mystery shopping, as well as through the active participation of young people in our Youth Forum.
